In math we have just started Unit 6 which unlike what I had posted in my last blog is on Geometry NOT multi digit multiplication. We are reviewing some vocabulary terms, such as line segment, ray and line and we most recently have talked about angles, clockwise and counterclockwise, including right angles.
As I mentioned, in Science, we have been talking about animals and animal classifications. Students worked in groups to create a poster about their mammal, amphibian, reptile, bird or fish and then presented to the class this past Friday, about the characteristics of each of these animals to "teach" their classmates. Students took notes to familiarize themselves with these.
We have an inservice day coming up next Friday, February 6th so there will be no school that day.
On the following friday, February 13th, we will be having Winter Fun Day, our Valentine's Day party and Jump Rope for the Heart. It will be the last day before our February vacation which is 2/16-20th. Our wonderful room parents will be contacting you shortly for help for a few of these events. Thank you for sending your children in with appropriate winter clothing--hats, mittens, boots, snowpants, jackets etc. We go out for recess almost every day so having the proper clothing keeps kids comfortable and dry.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns by either emailing me or calling me.
Have a great winter wonderland weekend!
