Our second week in third grade has been busy so far. We have been getting ready for Open House this week. In math we are working on place value, name collection boxes and number grid puzzles. Number sense is very important in third grade and students should know their addition and subtraction facts with automaticity. In reading we are talking about personal reactions to text. We are also talking about good reading habits and how to fill out reading logs. In writing we will begin talking about small moments and start a personal narrative from our own lives. Last week we did a science experiment with skittles candy. I hope your students told you about it! This week we are concentrating on the scientific method. Stay tuned! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments. See you at Open House this Thurs. 9/18 from 6-8 pm!
